Weird Paramecium Thingies
I really, REALLY dislike paisley. I feel a rather disinterested, almost annoyance, whenever I see something paisley. I look at it, I try to observe something of interest about it. Although it has a rather historical value, and is steeped in really great origins...in today's prints, I don't see it. Among the checks and plaids, the textural/wordy printings, there exist weird paramecium thingies floating usually on a cheap fabric or oddly colored base. I will admit that some are more annoying than others, and that some are even bordering on tolerable and pleasant. I guess, in the long run, my artistic eye will demand some sort of satisfaction from the print. Can I like the background color or bordering colors? Can I admire the simpleness of it, or did they overdo the paisley and it's flying over the fabric like a bunch of hungry seagulls looking for food? All in all, the sense of beauty has diminished and the quality of work decreases, as it makes way for higher production of cheap materials. So mostly, I don't like the paisley, as a symbol of mass-production and lost artistic value...or maybe I died in a paisley suit in a past life.
